Chapter 64: To the South

Tl note: Thank you for the support “Secun“-san … really appreciate it….

The current job of Tenma involves working as a teacher for one or two days a week, with the rest of the time off.

Ideally, there would be various noble duties such as building connections with the company, attending meetings, and other noble tasks. However, the Tenma family’s situation is quite unique as they have surplus money without the need for connections. To put it bluntly, they have a lot of free time.

Last night, Tenma was focused on the most important task, which could be considered the creation of an heir. He woke up when the morning sun was already shining quite brightly, making him quite the procrastinator.

“Succession of the Neptune Territory, Normalization of Internal Politics, Welcomed by the Citizens… Hmm.”

Tenma lay down, holding Lily in his right hand and savoring her voluptuous curves with his cheek, while his left hand held the newspaper.

Today’s front page was filled with news about the coup in the Neptune Territory.

“That bad boy Leon seems to be under house arrest.”

“I don’t have specific knowledge about that person’s wrongdoings, but if he’s being called that, he must have done something quite significant, I suppose.”

Trish leaned closer to Tenma’s chest, hugging him as she responded.

“With six non-legitimate children for a head of the family, I think anyone would realize it’s quite an extraordinary situation.”

“Wow…”

“And the legal wife divorced and returned to her family. It’s quite something that she was accepted back by her family after the divorce. And the fact that the connection with her family remains is thanks to the current head, Joshua-sama.”

“I’ve heard Joshua’s name come up in discussions before. He must be quite a responsible person.”

“He’s a bit younger than Tenma-san, but he’s known for excelling in both academics and martial arts. He’s also quite handsome, and he treats women with kindness. However, he can be a bit soft when pushed…”

“I heard something about that from Principal Vadis, like he was attacked or something during his school days…”

“Yes, it didn’t turn into a major incident since his legal wife, Lola-sama, resolved it, but there was some tension between their families. Please be careful too, Tenma-san.”

“Well, I doubt something like that would happen to me…”

Ah, this person still doesn’t understand. Trish felt that way, but she decided not to say anything.

“By the way, we won’t be heading to the Neptune Territory, including Kasumi-sama.”

“Oh, really?”

“Even though the bad boy Leon is under house arrest, there’s no guarantee that the worst-case scenario won’t happen if he manages to escape. Generally, there’s an unwritten rule [Don’t take your wives to the Neptune Territory].”

“It sounds like there must have been a good reason for that…”

“That’s right. You can probably figure it out from the fact that there are currently seven estranged families.”

“I see…”

“From our family, it will be you and Grodia-san going, and from the royal family, it will be Prince Kornell, the Crown Prince. Also, Falon-san, who has been assigned to accompany you on the journey to the Magnetranza family, will be treated as a lady-in-waiting (a woman who attends a queen or princess).”

“Treating a student as a lady-in-waiting… it feels a bit awkward.”

“It’s okay to treat her like a normal person; we have maids for that.”

“Even so…”

“I understand your feelings, though.”

While we were talking, Kasumi, who had just finished her bath, entered the room. She was completely nude, as the room’s bath had no need for modesty.

Tenma, who had seen Kasumi emerge from the bath this way before, was unfazed. Lily, Tenma, Trish, and Kasumi were all in their birthday suits.

“Good morning, Tenma. About the Neptune family, Kornel-niisama wants to have a meeting tomorrow, so make sure to go to the castle by noon.”

“Got it, tomorrow, right?”

“Probably. Departure won’t be for another week or two since they need some time to settle things on their end. But you know, my big brother is really busy.”

“When you put it that way, it makes my current situation seem pathetic…”

As Tenma said this, Lily pressed her chest armor against my cheek while grinning.

They are starting to lose their discretion.

“Well, he’s the next king, after all… Anyway, please remember about tomorrow. As Trish mentioned, we can’t go there.”

“Yeah, I got it… By the way, where’s Claire? She hasn’t been around.”

It seemed that Nagi had some concerns from the recent school visit, so she was studying with Shion.

Claire was the only one not present.

“She is accompanying her big brother’s wife, Kristia-san, for the preparations for childbirth. It’s getting close.”

“Oh… Do I need to go with her?”

“Childbirth is a time for family only; it’s a strict rule. After everything settles down, we’ll bring gifts and visit together.”

“I see.”

“Well, I just finished the paperwork I mentioned earlier, and there are some things I’d like to discuss, so it’s a good time to talk with the prince.”

After she saying that, I tossed the newspaper aside from my hand.

In front of my eyes, Kasumi was preparing to leap at me.

Trish and Lily had adjusted their positions to avoid getting in the way, and I was preparing to catch Kasumi.

“So, let’s enjoy ourselves to the fullest today!”

“Don’t we always do that…”

Saying that, Kasumi leaped into my arms.

The following day, I went to the royal palace and waited in the reception room. Soon, Kornell-san entered the room, accompanied by the Prime Minister.

“I apologize for keeping you waiting.”

“No, it’s alright.”

I stood up and bowed. I had finally become accustomed to these formalities.

“We don’t have much time to spare, so let’s get to the point. The pacification and control of the Neptune family is nearly complete.”

Kornell-san, who had taken a seat on the sofa, began with these words.

“It’s the matter with that bad boy Leon, right?”

“That’s right. Although Joshua, his son, originally held the central control, there is still some confusion and succession issues. We need to wait for things to settle down a bit. So, the departure will be in approximately two weeks. The schedule might change again, so be prepared to adapt.”

“I understand.”

“And one more thing. I heard from Kasumi about the plan to stop by the Magnetranza family on the way.”

“That’s right.”

I have a bad feeling about this.

“Over there, I want you to teach them the <Magnetic Overlord Magnetranza>’s spell while you’re at it.”

Oh, that’s what it’s about.

“…You’re still easy to read, not something you are expecting, isn’t it?”

“I thought you were going to ask me to marry Fallon.”

“I did consider that as well.”

You actually considered it, huh?

“Adding more wives when the wedding hasn’t even taken place yet would indeed be a bit much.”

“Well, yes…”

“And another thing, you’re also involved as a factor in this arrangement.”

“What do you mean…?”

“Before we discuss that, I must explain the reason why we intervened in secret in the inheritance issue of the Neptune family. First of all, in the southern region, the Surt family and the Neptune family are the two major noble houses, and the Surt family, being a prominent noble faction, holds significant influence. Moreover, due to the extraordinary individual who serves as the head of the Neptune family, the royal family’s power doesn’t extend much into this region. However, in recent decades, the balance has been slowly shifting, and the Surt family has been gaining the upper hand. Do you understand the reasons?”

“Yes.”

Well, it’s probably because of the head of the Neptune family.

“About two months before the selection tournament, shortly after you arrived, or around that time, we received a secret proposal from Lola, Joshua’s legal wife from the Neptune family, and her family. They wanted to change the family leadership quietly and requested our cooperation. They were hoping for our assistance, and if we agreed, they were willing to establish a better relationship with the royal family.”

“I see.”

“They were eager to deal with that man one way or another, and if cooperating with us could help achieve that, it also means to strengthen their ties with the royal family.”

“Wouldn’t that mean the royal family would be intervening in the inheritance issue?”

“That’s right, but as long as it didn’t get exposed.”

“I see…”

“Furthermore, regarding this…”

Kornell took out a map and pointed to the lower left corner of the map to continue.

“As you can see, the Neptune territory is located slightly southeast of the capital, with the Surt territory to the south and southwest. The Magnetranza family is… here.”

He shifted his finger on the map, pointing to a narrower, wedge-shaped region drawn between the Surt and Neptune territories.

“I see… I understand now.”

“Good to know you get it. Given this geographical arrangement, the Magnetranza family has kept its distance from the royal family for a long time. However, the current strategy is to bring them under our influence in one go, and as a preliminary step, Kasumi invited them to that tea party.”

Ah, I see. So there was also that reason behind the tea party.

“I’ve informed Fallon that she will accompany us, but Peter and his subordinates are unlikely to be pleased with that decision. So, to quickly win them over, we need the ‘Magnetic Overlord Magnetranza,’ and that’s the gist of it.”

“I understand the main points, and I don’t see any issues on my end.”

“Alright, that’s it from me. If you don’t have any further questions…”

“Yes, here’s this.”

I took out some documents from the bag I had left with a maid and handed them to Kornell.

“Hmm… Ah, the mentioned documents?”

“They are completed, so I’m handing them over.”

“Perfect timing. We should take these to the Neptune territory as well.”

Kornell glanced at the documents briefly, then handed them to the Prime Minister and gave him some instructions. The Prime Minister, following the orders, took the documents and left the room.

Now is the right time.

“Also, I need to borrow a person. Someone who can absolutely be trusted and is skilled in handling confidential documents. I need one person.”

“A person? What do you plan to have them do?”

“It’s a secret. I promise it won’t be to the detriment of the royal family.”

I’ll push a bit assertively here.

What I want that person to do is to make copies. I have a rulebook for judges in my possession. This book contains the summoning incantations for all the units, one of my hidden cards that I haven’t shown to Will or anyone else in this world yet. To prevent its loss, I plan to at least copy down the incantations and keep a separate record. You might think I could just do it myself, and I’ve considered that option, of course.

Even from the royal family’s perspective, they shouldn’t believe that I have every summoning incantation memorized. They should at least suspect that I possess some form of written material. So, I intend to make use of that suspicion. Instead of making a copy of the original, I’ll provide them with something I’ve transcribed in advance, ensuring the information is accurate and excluding any sensitive details.

By doing it this way, I can discreetly pass the copied documents to the palace through the selected individual without any issues. Having the complete version in my possession is the crucial aspect here.

I was told the same thing by Kasumi: not to easily show everything to the country. She is a member of the royal family but at the same time, she’s my wife. I have no intention of putting her in a position where she has to weigh the royal family against me. In fact, if I were to do something as foolish as that, it’s likely that I would be the one to be excluded, and I understand that much about discretion and my place.

Furthermore, Kasumi knows that she can accommodate my wishes to the fullest extent as long as I don’t directly oppose the royal family. While she has to follow the country’s orders due to her position, being a puppet is not something she can accept.

That’s what it means to protect the family.

“…Alright, I’ll make the arrangements. Are you sure one person is enough?”

“Thank you. Yes, one person will suffice.”

“…Have you grown up a bit?”

With a snort and a smile, he seems to have figured out about 70% of it. Well, it doesn’t seem to have left a bad impression, so it’s fine.

“Then I’ll contact you again. The selection of the person will take some time, so we’ll inform you later.”

“I understand.”

“Well then, that’s it for today. I have a busy schedule, you see.”

Saying that, Kornell-san left the room. I managed to get through it somehow… I guess I’ll head back too…

Ten days later, the day of departure for the southern region arrived earlier than expected due to the swift progress in pacifying the territory.

“Tenma, take care,”

Six women saw me off in front of the entrance, their expressions filled with considerable anxiety. Given the circumstances, there could be unforeseen dangers.

“Yeah, I’ll be fine. When I get back, let’s all go visit Kristia to congratulate her on the birth of her first child.”

During these ten days, Kristia safely gave birth to a baby girl. It was planned that after this business trip, we would all go together to visit her.

“Tenma-sama, I will take full responsibility for protecting you. Please don’t worry.”

Grodia-san said so, and the two of us got into the carriage. This time, we were using a royal carriage, not our own. When we boarded the waiting carriage, Kornell was already inside.

“My apologies for the delay.”

“No problem… you seem getting along well with them.”

“I’ve been in their care.”

“That’s more than fine; you should be.”

“Is that so?”

I wanted to ask, “Is that the case for you too?” but I refrained from doing so.

“Let’s arrange for you to meet my wife at your wedding. You’d like to see her, wouldn’t you?”

Kornell said with a sly smile. He totally knows what’s going on.

“We’ll continue on to the academy, pick up Miss Fallon, and head to the Magnetraza House. We’ll stay there for about two days under the pretext of resting and gathering information during which time we’ll arrange everything.”

“Have you informed Fallon-san about this?”

“Of course not.”

“Understood. I’ll coordinate my story with yours.”

“Thank you.”

After a while, the carriage arrived at the school. Fallon-san, dressed elegantly, and Headmaster Vadis stood by the school gate. kornell, Grodia, and I stepped out of the carriage and exchanged greetings. There were also students who had gathered to catch a glimpse of us.

“Umm, it’s a pleasure to meet you, Prince Konell, I’m Fallon, the eldest daughter of the Magnetranza family.”

Nervously performing a courtesy, Fallon greeted us. Today, she wasn’t wearing her usual boyish pantsuit, but rather a light blue dress. She looks good in this kind of outfit too.

“I’m Kornell. I’m counting on you today. Sorry to rush, but we’d like to leave soon. We want to arrive early.”

Saying so, the two of us boarded the carriage, and Grodia escorted Fallon. The person escorting a lady to the carriage is actually quite important. In the case of an unmarried young lady, if someone other than a family member or a person of the same gender escorts her, it signifies a good relationship with that person, which is publicly acknowledged. So, it couldn’t be me or Prince Kornell doing it. That’s why we asked Grodia to take on this role.

With our cast assembled, we set off for the Magnetranza territory.
