Chapter 61: Class Visit

“[Units that erase all effects]… the more you use them in the latter part, the greater the impact on the opponent…”

The classroom during the class is enveloped in an unusual atmosphere, and even the students attending the class seem unsettled. I’m extremely nervous too. It’s not about being tense or anything like that; the reason is the six women at the back of the classroom. Yes, they’re my wives.

To understand why this situation came about, we need to go back to last night.

“Hey, Tenma, is tomorrow’s class going to be a lecture?”

After taking a bath, while we were all dozing off, Kasumi suddenly brought up a topic.

“Yeah, that’s right. We’re probably going to finish the whole course soon.”

“I see, I see. Well then, we’ll come to watch. We don’t need seats; it’s fine.”

“Huh?”

I froze in response to Kasumi’s sudden proposal.

“Why…?”

“Why? Well, I don’t think there’s any wife who wouldn’t want to see their husband working, you know…”

The other five, who were getting ready for bed, nodded their heads.Top of Form

“I don’t have many good memories of the noble school, but there’s a sense of nostalgia. Plus, there are still juniors there.”

Claire said.

“Lily is fine… But, I mean… especially for someone like Kasumi or Claire, wouldn’t there be juniors or something? Don’t you… feel anything about that!?”

“I purposely avoided having any contact with males, so I don’t particularly… In fact, I’d like to have a chat with the ladies again.”

Claire replied with a smirk.

“N-Nagi and I don’t have many fond memories of that place either…”

“I’m not sure if I’m not interested, but I’m curious about Oniisama as teacher, so…”

Nagi looked at me with pleading eyes. It seemed I couldn’t really refuse.

As I hold my head in my hands, someone tapped on my shoulder from the side, and when I look up, Lily, her face smiling but her eyes not.

“Husband, can we talk for a moment?”

After receiving a scolding from Lily, who maintained her smile, it was decided that they would attend tomorrow’s my class.

“Hey, that’s …….”

“What is it?”

At lunchtime, the students who were chatting in front of the main gate became restless. The cause was a particularly luxurious and large carriage that had just entered the Noble Academy.

Usually, when prominent nobles or important figures were coming, the students would receive prior notice. This served both to prevent confusion and to encourage students to be polite and well-behaved.

If it had been announced in advance that nobility were coming, even the most troublesome students wouldn’t dare to approach the main gate. These students were well aware of the danger of going against the nobility who had received prior notification, as it could lead to them being singled out or even worse.

However, since the decision had been made the day before and Tenma had informed the principal just before the start of his shift, no report had been spread, and the students had been spending their time as usual.

As the students watched from afar, six elegant and well-dressed young ladies stepped out of the carriage. While they might not have been in full formal attire, they were certainly dressed nicely. Additionally, the fact that among them were five recent graduates and one well-endowed woman drew attention and created a considerable stir.

Most of the students quickly guessed the purpose of their visit: they were here for the master of their house.

“It’s been a long time, but this place haven’t changed a bit.”

Kasumi, wearing a white blouse and orange one-piece dress, giggles.

The appearance could be described as that of a student.

“Kasumi-sama graduated two years ago… I graduated three years ago, but there isn’t much difference.”

“I graduated last year…”

Shion, who had combined a men’s full-grip culotte and jacket to create a masculine appearance, and Claire, who had also opted for a rare pants look, both chimed in.

“I graduated half a year ago, so I never expected to come in this kind of position.”

Nagi sighed, who was wearing a fluffy dress.

“Is it really okay for me to wear such nice clothes now?”

“You’re in the same position as us, so it’s only natural. It suits you very well,”

“But it’s a bit revealing…”

Lily, wearing a dress with a silhouette similar to Nagi’s but emphasizing the cleavage, blushed as she spoke to Trish.

Trish, on the other hand, was dressed quite traditionally with a flared skirt and blouse but had an obviously expensive brooch on her chest to exude a sense of luxury.

As more students began to watch from a distance, the principal rushed over.

“I apologize for this sudden intrusion Principal Vadis.”

Kasumi bowed her head but did not feel sorry in the slightest.

“It’s been a while, Princess Kasumi. I heard about the situation from Tenma sensei this morning. For now, please follow me inside.”

Following the principal’s guidance, the six of them were led to a waiting room.

“Once again, it’s been a while, Princess Kasumi.”

“It has, Principal Vadis.”

They both bowed, and the five others followed suit.

“Well, even without saying it, I understand your purpose here, but just in case… What brings you here today?”

“Yes, I wanted to see how my husband is doing.”

Naturally, this was just a formality. While she did have a genuine interest in seeing how her husband was doing, the real purpose was to “restrain” him. The women were in agreement that Tenma was not the type of person who would pursue other women on his own. They were confident in this based on their usual interactions and the fact that they were all working hard together at night. Moreover, Tenma was terrible at lying, so any deception would be immediately exposed.

The problem was that considering the numerous scandals that had occurred at this school in the past, there was no guarantee that some students or female teachers might not resort to strong measures. In particular, Tenma, despite having six wives, was considered a prime catch among the eligible single ladies. While he mentioned being strict with his students, Kasumi and the others did not believe that it would be enough to hide Tenma’s fundamental kindness, or in simpler terms, his meddling and compassionate nature.

Moreover, as a member of the noble class, Tenma had no need to manage land, and he could expect to reside in the royal capital for his entire life, with the backing of the royal family. With such favorable conditions in place, it was not out of the question that one or two determined women might attempt to force their way into his life, even with the royal family’s support.

In fact, Joshua, the eldest son of the Neptune family, who was selected as one of the Seven Greats in this year’s selection, was at a similar level to Tenma. He was kind to women and considered handsome, and he had already decided on his marriage partner when he entered school. However, his overly compassionate and trusting nature worked against him, and during his time at the school, he was assaulted by numerous women, two of whom became his concubines.

One of them happened to be an acquaintance of his main wife, which prevented the situation from escalating into a major scandal (according to his main wife,  “absolutely expected this to happen”). Nonetheless, such incidents have occurred even in recent years, which is why caution is warranted.

Principal Vadis understands this reality, and that’s why he accepted their visit. There have been numerous such cases in the past, and if something were to happen between Tenma and female students or teachers, the school would undoubtedly be held accountable. By addressing it with caution from both the female parties and the school, the school’s responsibility would be mitigated. In that sense, it is something that should be welcomed to a certain extent.

Tenma’s classes are typically held in the last period of the day. This is done for practical reasons, such as ensuring the availability of practice space and recognizing that the content might involve a wide range of questions for the teacher. If the schedule were too crowded in the later hours, it would be difficult to manage.

“…Alright, let’s take attendance. Asteria-san…”

Tenma’s complexion doesn’t look good at all. It’s noticeable even from the seats where the students are seated a little further away.

“Doesn’t sensei look a bit off?”

“Is he sick?”

Whispering students during attendance.

The majority of Tenma’s current students have a somewhat ambivalent attitude toward his classes: “Don’t like him, but he’s strong, and what he says is beneficial.” While he may not be adored, even someone like Ryuse of the Geargold family has started paying attention in class, so it’s safe to say that Tenma is recognized for his teaching abilities.

“Everyone is present, so… today’s lesson is about units with the ability [Nullify All Effects]. Many of you probably have them in your decks, and I’ll explain the key points of how to use them.”

Knock, knock.

Just as Tenma was about to start his lesson, there was a knock on the back entrance of the classroom. At the same time, Tenma’s expression turned as if it were the end of the world, which surprised Crossmore, Fallon, Ryuse, and Dryd, leaving them wondering how he could make such a face.

“…P-please come in.”

With a faint and trembling voice, Tenma gestured for them to enter, and the elegantly dressed group of women entered the room in succession. Naturally, the classroom buzzed with curiosity, and as all eyes turned to Kasumi, the students quickly grasped the situation.

Kasumi, despite being the third princess, was quite a prominent figure. The first and second princesses were already married, which meant she often represented the royal family in political matters and ceremonies. However, her presence at the Noble Academy was remarkable above all.

She might claim that she didn’t stand out much during her school days, especially in her own perception, but that was far from the truth. She had often clashed with male students who tried to assert dominance over female students, using her strength, wit, and influence to counter them. Even in the context of Cardrapt classes, she had made her mark. She had even personally carried the King’s message and apologized to the principal on a few occasions.

Furthermore, as there were still students attending the academy who had been her juniors during her time there, her legendary stories were passed down within the school.

“We’re just here as observers, so don’t mind us. We won’t need any chairs.”

While Fallon, who had been listening to the class from the back row, felt it was inappropriate to remain standing, Kasumi refused to take a chair.

“Please, continue, Tenma sensei.”

Kasumi said with a cheerful smile.

“Y-Yes!”

Responded Tenma as he straightened his posture and enthusiastically resumed the lesson. He had displayed a part of their family dynamics at home, leaving the students with mixed feelings of pity, amusement, and curiosity.

However, being nobles, they didn’t show these emotions on their faces.

The class continued in this unusual atmosphere, progressing calmly, and before they knew it, the bell signaling the end of the class rang, bringing relief to Tenma and an almost eternal experience for him.

“Big sister, it’s been a while!”

As Tenma hurriedly left the room and most people were attempting to exit without touching the women at the back, one woman approached Claire and took her hand. It was Rigel Formira.

“Rigel, even though you say it’s been a while, we saw each other at the party not long ago…”

“At that time, there was no time for a proper conversation!”

Claire replied, looking troubled, but her eyes held no sign of displeasure. Claire gazed at her like a caring older sister.

“I’m Crossmore Hellord, Princess Kasumi. I appreciate your hospitality from the other day.”

“Crossmore-san, the pleasure is mine.”

Crossmore and Kasumi bowed to each other. These two had met a few times through Henrietta and had recently accompanied her to the royal castle. They had established a story about receiving cards from Tenma and were meeting face-to-face.

“But why come here?”

“Well, it’s to see how my husband is doing at work.”

It was a well-understood reason, but Crossmore still asked for clarification, and Kasumi responded accordingly. Such formalities were essential in their social interactions.

“And also, it seems like Henrietta has been quite busy lately, so I thought it might be necessary to keep an eye on the boys, or even exert some pressure…”

“Ah, I see…”

This was, in a way, an important task.

Henrietta had been selected as one of the Seven, and while it hadn’t been officially announced externally, due to her receiving cards from Tenma, there was a need to redo deck construction and conduct numerous practice matches. This meant that the number of unannounced visits to the school would naturally decrease.

In such a situation, the male students might get out of hand.

While the six of them didn’t exude the same level of intimidation as Henrietta, it was better to be safe than sorry.

“In that case, I think it should be fine. Since… Tenma sensei arrived, everyone has been pretty well-behaved.”

“Oh? Is that so?”

“Yes, whenever someone tries something, Tenma sensei challenges them to a Cardrapt duel and scolds them afterward. Since no one can beat him, things have become quite calm around here…”

Yes, Tenma has mediated and provided guidance to students in various disputes.

Although calling it “guidance” might be an overstatement since, as a Summon Noble, he simply defeats them in Cardrapt duels and scolds them afterward.

“To be honest, I didn’t expect things to change so dramatically. I don’t get tangled up in it because of my record, but the other students are pretty fond of Tenma sensei.”

Crossmore’s words were meant as “follow up” for her husband, but it didn’t quite reach Kasumi in the intended manner.

“I see… so Tenma sensei is popular, huh?”

“It’s not so much popularity as it is… he’s strong, treats everyone equally, and provides proper guidance, so he’s highly regarded…”

The conversation between Kasumi, who spoke in a serious and questioning tone, and Crossmore, who didn’t know where she stepped on a landmine, continued.

“I see… Well, that’s right. It’s a good opportunity. How about we all have tea together now? Claire might want to talk with her junior too…”

“We all?”

“Of course, all the female students who are here right now. Luckily, they’ve all stayed behind.”

As they watched the conversation between Kasumi and Crossmore, all the women except one froze.

Only Rigel seemed extremely pleased.

“W-Where would this take place? Within the school?”

“It’s obvious! At our place, of course! Naturally, I’ll be inviting all of you!”

Kasumi declared with a beaming smile, and the souls of all the female students, except Rigel, seemed to leave their bodies.
